Regardless of the size of your company, a business blog can do the following things for you:

  • Improve your website’s SEO
  • Drive traffic to your website
  • Position your brand as an expert in a particular field
  • Enhance customer relationships

Let’s look at the first point – Google has updated their algorithm to focus largely on a website’s content and the frequency of posts. This means that if your blog is updated regularly and contains topics relevant to your business, it will increase your website’s SEO.

Point two – it is likely your business will be on at least one of the social media platforms - Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, or elsewhere. Posting links of your blog articles, with relevant imagery, to these platforms will give your social followers a reason to click through to your website to read your blog, and hopefully, in turn, look at more of your website. This is where your blog needs to be relevant, otherwise, they may simply leave your site right away.

Thirdly – through posting about topics which are relevant to and resonate with your market, you have the opportunity to show your knowledge, while at the same time marketing the skills and expertise of your business and its associated services. Additionally, you are building trust with consumers by showing you are knowledgeable in your field, thus making you a reliable source of information for them.

Last but by no means least – a blog opens another pathway for you to build a connection with your audience. Just as with other social platforms, it is important to interact with your consumers through responding to comments and answering questions. This interaction not only builds a relationship with the particular reader, it also demonstrates to others that there is a personality and genuine level of interest in communicating and engaging with the audience.

Blogging has become a highly effective tool in today's business world and will only continue to grow in importance as the priority of quality content influences Google rankings and search results.
