Top Level Domains (TLD’s)

Should you purchase a TLD domain name?

Some of our clients have been approached across Australia, in the rentals industry, to secure an “AREA”.rentals domain name.

Let’s say you have a rentals business in Kingsford. If you were approached to purchase kingsford.rentals as your new domain name, what are the advantages?

It has been rumored that a TLD will help improve your Google Search Engine ranking. Currently however, there is no advantage in Google by using this TLD domain name.

Google returns relevant pages, regardless of the TLD. It is our opinion Google will attempt to rank new TLDs appropriately, but don't expect a new TLD to get any kind of initial preference over a .com.au, and we wouldn't bet on that happening in the long-term either. If you want to register an entirely new TLD for other strategic reasons, that's your brand choice, but Traff1k are recommending not registering a TLD in the mistaken belief that you'll get some sort of boost in Search Engine rankings.

If you have a website and are not appearing in Google results, talk to us first on 02 9098 8209 or overtake@traff1k.com.

NOTE; If you have been approached by a company selling .rentals domain names and claiming to be from Traff1k, please notify us. Traff1k are not selling these domain names.
